Cooper River Yacht Club Sailing Instructions Courses

Category: Sailing instructions, beginner sailing instructions and tips

The Cooper River Yacht Club (CRYC), on the Collingswood side of Cooper River Park, Camden County, began the 2009 sailing season by announcing their sailing instruction schedule. Throughout every season, the club offers lessons tailored to specific age and skill ranges, but this year in these tough economic times, the club offers some extra special values. For people living in the greater Philadelphia area, the club is much closer than the New Jersey Shore. And sailboats are the original, pure "green" mode of transportation. They have no environmental impact because they don't consume fuels of any kind - the wind is free! The club's sailing instruction programs are open to anyone interested in learning more about sailing. Read entire entry

Responding to the new ISAF (International Sailing Federation) Eligibility Code in 2001, the US SAILING Executive Committee approved a new prescription to RRS 64.1(a). The 2001 US prescription to RRS 64.1(a) eliminated the need for any action by sailors, race sponsors, event organizers or judges when the event is not one of the special events listed in ISAF Reg. 21.2.1(a)-(g). It was noted that event organizers still could require entrants to meet special eligibility requirements if they stated such requirements in the notice of race and sailing instructions. ISAF Regulation 21.2.1(h) requires, in essence, that anyone competing in any sailing event governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing must be a member of a Member National Authority or one of its affiliated organizations, such as a sailing club that is a member of US SAILING.

SAP 5O5 World Championships At San Francisco Bay
The 2009 SAP 5O5 World Championships and North American Championships that took place late this August at the St. Francis Yacht Club, the title sponsor of the event, was participated by over 100 boats. All races took place on the Olympic Circle west of Berkeley; specific courses were designated in the sailing instructions. The participants from around the globe competed 6 days sailing in environment created by the strong winds and complex currents of the San Francisco bay.
